Norwegian Folk Museum (Norsk Folkemuseum)

The Open-Air Museum features 155 authentic buildings from different national regions, i.e. Gol Stave Church, from the 13th century. At the museum you can experience and learn about traditional Norwegian culture and history.

Karl Johans Street

Karl Johans Street is Oslo’s main mall and it stretches from Oslo Central Station to the Royal Palace. The street has a lovely café, restaurant and entertainment culture. The street is always bustling with people who come to enjoy Oslo. The street is also close to the Oslo Cathedral and the National Museum.


Ishavs Katedralen (Arctic Cathedral)

Also known as the sanctuary of the Arctic Ocean, the Artic Cathedral is modern architectural structure, which is based on a design that uses Tromsø's winter and northern lights as a motif, which suits the atmosphere of the town. The beautiful, stately stained glass panels inside are 12m high and are definitely worth seeing. The architect of this building is Jan Inge Hovig.

Karasjok

Karasjok is an a that has been a settlement for the mountain Sami people since olden days. The name "Karasjok" is believed to have originated from the Finish phrase meaning the cove's river. This region experiences drastic temperature changes, and has recorded a lowest-ever temperature of minus 51.4 degrees, and a highest-ever temperature of 32.4 degrees. There are also a theme park, museum, and other facilities that display the Sami culture.

Access: Approximately 1 hour 35 minutes from Lakselv Airport by bus.


The National Museum of Art, Architecture & Design

The new museum is a merging of the previously autonomous institutions The National Gallery, The National Museum of Contemporary Art, The Museum of Decorative Arts and Design, The Norwegian Museum of Architecture, and The National Touring Exhibitions, Norway. Well worth a visit for visitors with an interest in art and design.

Jondal Cathedral

Jondal Cathedral is located in Haradanger and is famous for hosting beautiful organ concerts in the summer time.


Kunstindustrimuseet - The Museum of Applied Arts

The museum was founded in 1876 and shows Norwegian and international applied arts dating from the seventh century to today.

Bryggens Museum

The Bryggen Museum displays relics from the medieval period that were discovered in the Bryggen excavation project, which was undertaken between 1955 and 1972.

Tromsø Museum

Tromso Museum is attached to Tromsø University that was established in 1872. It displays and showcases a wide array of strands, such as geography, plants, animals, archaeology, and studies of the Sami people.

Stavanger Cathedral

The Stavanger Cathedral was erected in the 12th century by King Sigurd Jorsalfar immediately following the Viking era with an ancient Normandy-style architectural construction left unchanged from the past.

St. Jorgens Hospital

This hospital treated leprosy patients from the latter half of the medieval period. There is a leprosy museum (Lepra-museet) on its premises that stores the research papers of the Norwegian doctor, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who dedicated his life to the extermination of leprosy.

Hadeland Glass factory (Hadeland Glassverk)

Hadeland Glass is Norway's oldest glass factory and it was founded in 1762. It is located in a town called Jevnaker, which is about an hour's drive from Oslo. Not only can you observe the glassmakers at work, you can also try it your self. The largest glass museum in Scandinavia is also located here and glass products can be purchased from four outlet stores.

The Old City

The old city of Stavnager is the largest old city in Northern Europe where rows of well-preserved wooden houses can be found. Almost all houses were constructed between the 18th and 19th century, and you can experience what it was like back then.
